Prosper Garage Floor Coating Project

Ace Garage Pros completed this 600 sq ft garage floor for a couple preparing to move their family into a brand-new Prosper home. The bare concrete was mechanically prepared and finished with a moisture vapor barrier, Light Grey base coat, full-broadcast Tidal Wave decorative flake, and a protective clear topcoat. Customer Goal

The homeowners had just purchased a brand-new home for their family and wanted the garage floor finished before moving in. Their goal was to replace the bare concrete with a clean, decorative floor that complemented the new home and gave the garage a completed appearance from the start.

Starting Condition

The 600 sq ft garage was part of a newly built home and had a bare concrete floor with visible color variation, construction-related marks, and normal surface imperfections. The walls and ceiling were already finished, but the untreated concrete made the garage feel less complete than the rest of the new home.

Preparation

  1. Cleared and inspected the 600 sq ft garage floor.
  2. Mechanically diamond-ground the concrete to create the proper surface profile for coating adhesion.
  3. Detailed the slab along the walls, corners, perimeter, and garage-door opening.
  4. Prepared the concrete around the garage’s fixed walls, doorways, and electrical features.
  5. Vacuumed the floor thoroughly to remove grinding dust and loose surface debris.
  6. Protected the finished walls, trim, doors, and other surfaces surrounding the work area.

Installation

  1. Applied a moisture vapor barrier over the mechanically prepared concrete slab.
  2. Applied a Light Grey base coat across the garage floor.
  3. Broadcast Tidal Wave decorative flake throughout the wet coating to create a uniform full-flake finish.
  4. Applied the flooring system carefully along the walls, corners, and extended side area of the garage.
  5. Removed loose excess flake and refined the surface before applying the final coating.
  6. Sealed the decorative floor with a protective clear topcoat.
  7. Detailed the garage-door threshold to create a clean transition to the exterior concrete.
  8. Inspected the finished surface, perimeter, and transitions before completing the project.
