Plano Garage Floor Coating Project

Ace Garage Pros updated this 400 sq ft garage for homeowners preparing to move into an older Plano home. Customer Goal

The homeowners were preparing to move into an older home and wanted to update the appearance of the garage. Their goal was to replace the worn-looking bare concrete with a clean, finished floor that would make the garage feel newer and more complete.

Starting Condition

The garage had an older bare concrete floor with extensive staining, discoloration, scuffing, and visible signs of years of use. Although the garage already had painted walls and built-in storage, the unfinished concrete made the space look worn and dated.

Preparation

  1. Cleared and inspected the approximately 400 sq ft garage floor.
  2. Mechanically diamond-ground the concrete to remove surface contaminants and create the proper profile for coating adhesion.
  3. Detailed the concrete along the walls, corners, perimeter, and garage-door opening.
  4. Prepared the visibly stained and discolored areas as part of the mechanical surface-preparation process.
  5. Vacuumed the floor thoroughly to remove grinding dust and loose debris.
  6. Protected the existing walls, cabinets, shelving, doors, and other fixed garage features during the installation.

Installation

  1. Applied a Light Grey base coat over the prepared concrete.
  2. Broadcast Domino decorative vinyl flake throughout the wet coating to create a consistent full-flake finish.
  3. Applied the coating carefully around the garage perimeter and existing fixed features.
  4. Removed loose excess flake and refined the surface for the clear coat.
  5. Sealed the decorative floor with a protective clear topcoat.
  6. Detailed the garage-door threshold to create a clean transition between the coated floor and exterior concrete.
  7. Completed a final inspection of the floor, edges, and finished surface.
